Buenos Aires (27 images) It was unusually hot in Buenos Aires while we were there - as high as 105 F, and it felt even hotter with the humidity. We went to MALBA, which is the new Latin American art museum - it's mostly modern art, and the building is architecturally interesting. We also went to Plaza de Mayo, which is the city's central plaza, and to the cathedral that is there. We visited the San Telmo neighborhood, which was once affluent, then became run down, and is now being revitalized. We also visited the Recoleta Cemetery, where the rich and famous (including Evita) are buried in huge, ostentatious mausoleums. We visited Melinda's childhood friend Julia and her husband Claudio and Melissa's boyfriend Alejandro. We had lunch with Alejandro at a very good Italian restaurant in the Puerto Madera neighborhood, had dinner with him in the Las Carnitas neighborhood, and went to a spectacular tango show with him.
