Phuket (11 images)
We stayed at a beautiful beach resort in Phuket, Thailand, called Katathani. Phuket was hit hard by the tsunami, but they rebuilt within 3 months, so there is now no evidence of it left. The sand is soft and white, and the water is very clear. The nearly perfect beach is what draws lots of European tourists here. Our room was very stylish. We saw blue skies here for the first time during our trip. We think that in the region's big cities, the pollution keeps the skies gray. We went on a snorkeling trip. It wasn't as good as Belize, and it cost more. We had dinner with Debbie, who is a friend of Melinda's from synchro who now lives in Phuket where she and her husband are teachers at an international school.
